The CRHP process would bring parishioners together for a 30 hour casual but effective live-in communal weekend experience. The Renewal Weekend includes an emphasis on witnessing ones faith life to one another in a prayerful and non-threatening atmosphere. It also provides the parishioners with an opportunity for experiencing deep personal conversion and the fruits of Christian community in one’s own parish. This experience would hopefully initiate a process of spiritual growth, Christian community building, and lay ministry formation.

The zeal of these few parishioners would affect the apathy of the many. Not a whole parish at once, but patiently, parishioner by parishioner. The seed of the few becomes the leaven of many. Thousands have been reached by the CRHP method.

A team of parishioners is formed as a follow-up to a previous Renewal Weekend at an Evening of Discipleship. They are instructed in the techniques, dynamics and content of the total CRHP process. No expertise is needed, just prayerfulness, sharing, loving concern and simple service. This formation period becomes an effective follow-up for each Renewal Weekend experience and lasts through the ministry of the next Renewal Weekend. It brings the new participants immediately into a group committed to spiritual growth and ministerial formation. As you see, it is a never ending process, some from the last group and some of the new participants become the ‘experts’ for the next weekend.

The actual Renewal Weekend takes 30 hours of your time, early Saturday through Sunday afternoon. It consists of small group participation, witnessing and sharing by previous members; exercises in the group process and community building; and sharing set in a scriptural and prayerful atmosphere.

For continuity, after this weekend you decide to commit yourself to ministering the next Renewal Weekend at an Evening of Discipleship. The formation period lasts until the next Renewal Weekend which is usually over 12 months in the future.
