The Danger of Centering Prayer & How to Truly Pray

Centering Prayer is a popular but very controversial form of prayer that takes many techniques from Eastern forms of prayer, which are not compatible with Christian prayer.  Read more about it at:

"The Danger of Centering Prayer."

You may also be interested in learning about different Christian prayer methods. The "Awaken to Prayer" website is excellent and very meaty. We also have various articles on prayer on our website.

Some general tips about prayer. The hardest thing is to just do it. Set a time aside every day, preferrably the same time. It must be quiet when you will not be disturbed, early morning is the most popular time, but whatever works for you is best.
Pick a comfortable spot and get comfortable and relaxed.
Get your bible and use it as a prayer aid. Remember, it is God's Word written for YOU.
Get a prayer journal. Any notebook will do. And write down any thoughts or feelings you had, etc. One form of prayer is just writing a letter to God. Pour your heart out and he will answer. This is one of the easiest forms of prayer.
Do it every day. The more you do it, the better you will get. If you don't ever try you will never have a deep relationship with Jesus.
