Year for Priests at 601 S. Jefferson Ave., Springfield, MO 65806 US - Home

 Who's Behind the Collar?

In March of 2009, Pope Benedict announced that this coming year would be celebrated as a Jubilee Year for Priests.   As part of the year-long celebration, priests across the diocese have been willing to share interesting thoughts and insights about their calling.  It will be a look Behind The Collar.
Approximately every week, a priest within our diocese will be featured here on the homepage.  What keeps the fire alive in them?   Access these feature articles by clicking on the images (below) which feature the flame image in the corner.

Please join us in celebrating these wonderful men and their Vocation.  For ways you can share in this year of celebration, visit one of the links on the right.

Invitation to mystery

“I give thanks to my God at every remembrance of you, praying always with joy in my every prayer for all of you, because of our partnership for the gospel from the first day until now. I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in us will continue to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus. And this is my prayer: that our love may increase ever more and more in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value, so that we may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, having produced the harvest of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God. ”  — Phil 1:3-6, 9-11

A little girl, dressed in her Sunday best, was running as fast as she could, trying not to be late for Bible class. As she ran she prayed, “Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late! Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late!” As she was running and praying, she tripped on a curb and fell, getting her clothes dirty and tearing her dress. She got up, brushed herself off, and started running again. As she ran she once again began to pray, “Dear Lord, please don’t let me be late … But please don’t shove me either!”

God doesn’t push us. He invites us into the mystery.  >>Read More

Please pray for these dedicated men who serve our diocese so faithfully.
