Little is known about the history of the town but information taken from the old residents revealed that in the latter part of the Spanish regime, this town was a small fishing village north of Ragay Gulf at the mouth of Kilbay River. A little further to the north was a virgin forest that attracted much the attention of the Spanish traveler Don Juan del Gallego. Don Juan tried his luck in this unknown land. He erected his first lumber mill in sitio Pinagdacpan, about five kilometers up Kilbay River. In a few years, this lumber camp became a progressive community. The old man also erected a school, a chapel, and organized an orchestra.

Lorenzo Ruiz is the first Filipino saint. He is also the first Filipino martyred for the Christian Faith. Lorenzo Ruiz was a layman, married, and had two sons and a daughter. Born in Binondo, Manila, about 1600's, he was educated in the school of the Dominicans there. He served as an altar boy and later was a helper and clerk-sacristan in the church of Binondo.

Holy Spirit Choir

The Holy Spirit Choir (HSC) was organized on September 8, 1985 to be one of the resident choirs of the Ascension of Our Lord Parish, Lagro, Quezon City. Since then, the group fastly rose to an enviable position it has rightfully earned through the years. Just three years after its conception, the group won First Place in 1988 Columbian Competition and participated in major concerts of the parish, to which the group was never weakly applauded. The public acclaim showered on the choir is an affirmation of the impact that this group of young choristers always leaves its audience.
