Homeroom Teacher: Wendy Berryman

Dear Current and Prospective Parents:

Over the last four years, I have had the privilege of being a teacher in the Middle School at St. Agatha Academy.  My teaching duties include teaching 6th and 7th grade Language Arts, Spelling, and 6th-8th grade Science.  During my time here, I have also had the opportunity to develop youth as future leaders in our Y-Club, which participates in a mock state assembly in the annual Kentucky Youth Assembly Conference.  Additionally, I have been the coach of our District Governor's Cup Academic Team, and serve as the faculty supervisor for our chess club.  However, the true chess "coach" for our school is our own St. Joseph's parishioner, Jim Jones, who has devoted every Monday afternoon to teaching strategy through puzzles, smart board lessons, and game-playing.

Next school year marks my tenth year in teaching, five of those have been in high school English, and it will be my fifth year teaching middle school Language Arts and Science.  At present, I hold a BA from EKU in English Writing, an MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) from EKU in English Education, and and Ed.S. (Educational Specialist) from the University of Kentucky.  Over these years in education, I have found myself ever-challenged and deeply humbled by the great privilege of teaching the youth and forming in them both a desire for learning and a deep love of God and the Christian faith.

Not only am I a teacher, but also a parent of two sons who also attend St. Agatha.  One will be graduating from elementary and moving on to middle school next year, and one is on the Montessori pre-school program.  My family and I have lived in Clark County all our lives, and feel deeply invested in our small town, which feels more like a large family.  We hope to be part of Winchester and St. Agatha for many years to come!

In His Service,

Wendy Berryman
