Contemplative Prayer is the opening of mind and heart - our whole being - to God, beyond thoughts, words and emotions. It is a prayer of silence, an experience of God’s presence and is considered to be the pure gift of God.
Centering prayer is a method of prayer that furthers the development of contemplative prayer by quieting our faculties to receive and cooperate with the gift of God’s presence. It consists of responding to the spirit of Christ by consenting to God’s presence and action within. Centering Prayer emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with God while also being a discipline to foster and serve this relationship with a regular daily practice.
English and Spanish centering prayer groups are available to support and encourage one’s commitment to the practice.
