Belleville Cursillo Movement at PO Box 331, St. Libory, IL 62282 US - Belleville Women’s Cursillo #31

Belleville Women’s Cursillo #31
Karen Hermes, Rectora for the 2009 Women's Weekend

This year as we planned for Belleville Women’s Cursillo #31, we experienced several events that we did not anticipate. The major change was the passing of our beloved Fr. Robert Braun, OMI. There were also several team members unable to be on the weekend because of unplanned circumstances. The theme for this weekend was “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening” and we all took that message to heart in dealing with the changes that confronted us.  The team for Cursillo #31 really came together during the novena and formations, and we all spent extra time listening for God’s plan in our lives. The intercession of the Holy Spirit, as well as the prayers of all involved, helped this weekend to overcome the setbacks we faced.

We want to sincerely thank Fr. Ken Schaefer, Fr. Marvin Volk and Sr. Genarose Buechler for being Spiritual Advisors for the weekend. We also thank Fr. Gary Gummersheimer for coordinating the dedication for team members before the weekends.

We began the weekend with nine women open to learning more about God working in their lives. Unfortunately, one of them had to leave due to illness. On a happier note, she does plan to make a Cursillo next year. The flu also hit some of the team, but they struggled through to Sunday.

The eight candidates were amazing to watch. It was like seeing the first flowers of spring. Each candidate, in her own unique way, opened up to all that was presented and taught over the weekend. At the end of the weekend those women shone like a beautiful spring bouquet. We appreciate all of the fourth day community who came to the closing to greet the new Cursillistas and experience their love and excitement.

I cannot begin to thank all of you for your prayers and support that made this Cursillo a life altering experience for those who attended. The generosity of your time, talent and treasure is inspiring to witness. God bless you all, and thank your for your dedication to our loving God.

DeColores,

Karen Hermes, Rectora
