Cursillo Secretariat Minutes-February 2, 2009 Members Julie led the meeting and called it to order. The group opened the meeting with the leader’s prayer and the Come Holy Spirit Prayer that Father Braun, O.M.I. wrote. We read from scripture: Luke 2:22-32 and the assembly discussed the passage. Ann made a motion to accept the m The group discussed a topic that Julie had prepared: Have I been leaving the outcomes of my life in the hands of the Holy Spirit like Simeon did? How can I improve my ability to do that? Treasurer’s Report As of February 2, 2009, there was $2,553.11 in the regular savings account, $539.63 in the checking account, and $9,195.87 in a 6 month CD with a total bank balance of $12,288.61. Karen recapped the activity. The expenses included: National and Regional dues, manuals, DuBois center, supplies for the weekends, expenses related to the Evangelizer, payment for the trailer, insurance on the trailer, and a vent cover for the trailer. Some money from the CD was used to purchase the trailer. Following a discussion, it was decided that Julie Bostick, Joe & Ann Haubrich and Dave Bassler would have keys to the trailer. The cost for the weekends will remain at $130, but a change may have to be considered for next year. The possibility of holding weekends at Todd Hall was considered due to handicap accessibility and availability of more weekend dates. Karen was informed that if we want to hold the weekends at Todd Hall next year, we will have to consider this soon as other groups might be interested in using the hall. After further discussion, it was decided to postpone consideration of Todd Hall until a future date, as we need to focus on finding a Spiritual Advisor at this time. Pre-Cursillo: As of February 2, 2009, there were 8 men and 7 women candidates for the weekends. Cursillo: Joe relayed to the DuBois center that the number in attendance for the men’s weekend would be 27. A discussion was held on possible dates for next years’ weekends. Joe and Ann will check on the availability of the DuBois center and the dates for Easter and Lent. We need to consider the availability of priests for the weekends since they are very busy, especially during Lent. We also should consider conflicts with RCIA (Rite of Election), and avoid scheduling on the same weekends as the St. Louis Cursillo. Other months were also considered. If the weekends were held in November, we should avoid scheduling them too close to Thanksgiving. If they were held in January, the Novena and formation would overlap with Christmas, presenting a challenge to the schedule. Post-Cursillo: Marie will organize the reunion, which will be held at St. Agatha’s Parish hall on March 29th at Public Relations: Roni sent a reminder for the weekends. Evangelizer: The deadl Old Business: Changes to the by-laws were reviewed. Bob McCormack moved that the by-laws be accepted as written. Donna seconded the motion. A vote was held (all approved; no opposed). Julie will send the by-laws to Noreen Ford, Regional Coordinator to get National approval of them before publishing and making them official. New Business: Julie reported that the Regional Service Team provides workshops on Saturdays and they would like to have a workshop in each area. Julie had several suggestions for a workshop: 1) an overview of the talks for the weekends and how they build on each other 2) a Sponsor workshop 3) how to get the most from Leader’s meetings. It was agreed that the workshop should be on the The possibility of moving the Secretariat meetings to Freeburg was proposed. Roni said she would verify this possibility with Father Mark Reyling. Next Secretariat meeting: Karen made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Bob seconded the motion. Julie closed the meeting with a prayer.
