Blessed Sacrament Parish, La Crosse at 130 S. Losey Blvd., La Crosse, WI 54601 US - Enthronement of the Sacred Heart

Enthronement of the Sacred Heart

Most of you are aware that Bishop Burke has enthroned an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in our Cathedral and consecrated our Diocese to the Sacred Heart of Jesus last November. On that same day, we consecrated our parish to the Sacred Heart. A growing number of parish families are following suit and have already enthroned the Sacred Heart in their homes. You may be wondering, just what is the “Enthronement of the Sacred Heart,” and if you should have the enthronement in your home. The Enthronement is an initial celebration and a way of life directed to the renewal of the Christian family. Its essence is love. The core and heart of the enthronement is love because “God is love.” The symbol of that love and the source of that love is the Heart of Christ, which is a sign of the whole living person of Jesus Christ, that historical Jesus, who gave Himself to us completely on Calvary. He continues to give himself totally at every Mass. From October 29 – November 1, 2001 we will have with us the Sacred Heart Mission Band. They will conduct a Parish Mission centered on the Sacred Heart and the renewal of our parish through the renewal of the Christian life of individuals and families. At that time, we will learn more of his movement, which is having a huge impact throughout our nation. During those same days, we will have our annual Forty Hours celebration. I urge you to mark those days on your calendar now. It you would like to know more about the Enthronement you can call Dorothy Heberlein at 796-0334, or Luna Chou at 788-5752. These two women are planning an informational meeting for all interested people in early September. So many problems afflict family life and marriage. One of the promises of the Sacred Heart is that where the image is enthroned and honored and the Christian life lived more fully, peace and harmony will follow. – Father Hundt
