August 18, 2002 20th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME When we come to celebrate the Liturgy we always hear the Word of God spoken. The proclamation of God's Word calls us together as people of faith. Proclaiming the Word of God is a very important function. If we do not hear the Word of God often, we can forget who we are as God's people. We have a large number of volunteers who faithfully fulfill the role of lector or reader. In this series of weeks in which we acknowledged and thanked our volunteers, this week we thank the lectors who so reliably fulfill their ministry and do it so well. Even here at the Parish there's always a worthy need. That's why $crip is so nice. I buy $crip certificates for groceries, gas, restaurants, hardware, clothing, entertainments, etc. I pay no more for these gift certificates than I would if purchasing from the store; I simply stop at the $crip desk after Mass or in the rectory. AND a nice percentage of my purchase amount comes right back to the Parish for education assistance. What could be easier - buy my items and support the parish all at once. (I keep a few $crip certificates on hand for gifts.) New Parish Email address BLESSEDSACRAMENT @centurytel.net. Special thanks to all who have kept him in their prayers and who have supported him with expenses for dental work done. He will be back at Christmastime to sample a Wisconsin winter.
