7th grade Civics
This year in Civics the students are going to be introduced to and learn some of the basics about the American government system. We will talk about the three branches of government and the powers granted to each branch. We will also look at the governments on the state and local level. Throughout the year there will be a handful of Supreme Court cases that we will be looking at.
4th quarter we will move to American history and will look at exploration and the founding of America.
7th grade math
This yearstarts with some review of topics covered last year. The students will start with a review of deciaml operations and fractions. These chapters will be covered at a faster rate than the rest of the year. Other topics that will be covered this year are rates, ratios, proportions, percents, and geometry. The students will spend time learning slop[e and how to figure it out. They will also spend some time on graphing as well.
8th Grade American History
This year in American History the students are going to pick up where they left off in 7th grade. We will start the year with the time leading up to the American Revolution. We will make our way through the 1800's and spend a decent amount of time on the Civil War, we will then go into World War I and World War II. We will also cover the Korean War and Vietnam War. We will touch on events throughout the 80's and 90's and try to get into the 2000's.
We will also be working on some map skills throughout the year.
There will be a focus throughout the year on the Bill of Rights, and the amendments. We will also look at the Constitution and other major historical documents. We will also focus on the presidents and the major events that occured during their presidency.
