SMART Recovery |
(Self Management and Recovery Training) is a program which helps people recover from all types of addictive behaviors, including alcohol abuse and addiction, drug abuse and addiction, gambling addiction, and addictions to other substances and activities. SMART is recognized by the American Academy of Family Physicians, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the American Society of Addiction Medicine and other organizations. Smart Recovery implements four basic tools to aid in recovering from addiction: ¨ Point 1: Enhancing and Maintaining Motivation to Abstain ¨ Point 2: Coping with Urges ¨ Point 3: Problem Solving (Managing thoughts, feelings and behaviors) ¨ Point 4: Lifestyle Balance (Balancing momentary and enduring satisfactions) A new SMART Recovery group will begin in DeWitt on June 27th, and will meet every Saturday morning at 9:00AM at the Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 N.
