Catholic Community of St. Jude at 801 North Bridge Street, DeWitt, MI 48820 US - Helping Hands Ministry

Helping Hands Ministry

Terry Humenik, R.N. (517) 896-4989 email: stjudesrn@yahoo.com

Sometimes life brings situations when you need a helping hand for awhile.

St. Jude Helping Hands Ministry  can be there to help you through  a difficult time.

The Helping Hands Ministry is supported by volunteers from the parish who seek to help those who are in need for a short time due to illness, accident, family crisis, birth of a new baby etc.

We are inspired by the gospel message of Jesus Christ who calls us to care for one another .  Helping Hands ministers can provide help with:

  • Rides to doctor appointments
  • Meals
  • Housework
  • Yard work
  •  Childcare
  • Help with a sick person at home
  • Financial record organization
  • Special requests
  • Small home repairs

Who might receive service from Helping Hands?

Someone who has just had surgery and cannot prepare meals for self or family.

A  family with small children whose mother is ill or hospitalized.

Someone recovering from illness,  accident or surgery and cannot drive themselves to doctor appointments.

Assist with housework, yard work, small home repairs for someone who is ill or elderly and has no other resources.

Caregiver of family member who is ill or having surgery and needs temporary assistance.

Helping Hands Ministry is meant to help with temporary needs during difficult times.  If a temporary need becomes a long term need we will help you to find a more permanent solution.

St. Jude Helping Hands Ministry coordinators alternate service to those in need. Please contact the Ministry Coordinator who is currently on service at 517- 930-1383.

Be one of St. Jude Helping Hands
If you missed the opportunity to volunteer your “helping hands” to the Helping Hands ministry of St. Jude - please sign up at the Parish Information Center in the gathering space. We need only your name and address at this point and will mail a survey to you. You can choose the various ways in which you can help someone in need and tell us about your availability on the survey.
The original survey was done 10 years ago and many people have moved, changed their phone numbers, added cell phones and email or their abilities to volunteer have changed during that time. For that reason we are asking those who had previously been involved in this important ministry to sign up again so we have the most current information about you.

Returning your Helping Hands Surveys
When you have completed your survey to determine what skills you have to offer please return it by placing it in the basket on the table below the Care Notes display in the gathering space.
