Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church at 3760 McKinley Street, Corona, CA 92879 US - TRIUMPHAL ENTRY
| TRIUMPHAL ENTRY |
We celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem and the palm branches put on the road for the donkey to walk on. What does all this mean? The people were given a glimpse of Jesus in His divine role, not just His human role and they demonstrated their joy at recognizing the Messiah in human form. This did not last very long, however, as they would call for Him to be crucified at the demand of the high priest and leaders of the temple. These leaders truly hated Jesus and wanted Him out of the way, but was it the plan of the Jews or was it God’s plan from all eternity? These “leaders” were complacent in their anticipation of the Messiah and liked their power and leadership role in the temple. We all know well, the sequence of events, as we hear them every year at this time, how the high priest demanded that this Jesus die, as He equated Himself to God and thus, according to Jewish law, committed an abomination. The film “The Passion of Christ” shows us how possibly Jesus was mistreated and whipped mercilessly. All that blood shed before the crucifixion, would have been sufficient for the salvation of all people of all times, but for the Messiah, He desired to show His total love, by giving His all, by dying the agonizing death of the cross. “GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM, MIGHT HAVE LIFE ETERNAL. We have a faith that brings us to worship Him each and every Sunday (The Lord’s Day) and that faith is a gift to us to use or not. Thanks be to God, we who have come to know the Lord Jesus, desire to come together as Church and worship Him as Head of the Church. At this holy season of the year, we gather to re-live the suffering and death of the Christ, in order to celebrate the resurrection of Christ from the dead. We have life because He gave His life and we rise from this mortal veil of tears, to eternal life, with Him in the heavenly kingdom, He Who rose from the dead. What a blessing we have our faith, to know that God really does love us and desired us to be with Him for all eternity in His heavenly kingdom. All we need to do is love the Lord and love our fellow person and ask for forgiveness of all sin. God is so good to us human beings, in giving us all the opportunity to find salvation in Christ our Lord. May we use this Holy Week, to open ourselves to the Lord and His love and recommit our lives to our dear Savior, Jesus Christ. Participate in the Last Supper Mass and in the Good Friday services (No Mass) and let your heart be overwhelmed with the love of God. Let us know that from all the pain and sorrow, true joy comes in Jesus Resurrection from the dead.
