Our Organization's History
Catholic Charismatic Prayer groups began meeting in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in the late 60's.The first prayer groups met at St. Benedict's Abbey in Benet Lake and at the Jack & Karen Swanson home,Oconomowoc "Living Waters". These groups continue to meet.
Today there are over 35 prayer groups,
many Spanish speaking as well as English speaking.
Archbishop Cousins appointed Fr. Ken Metz as the first Liaison to the Renewal in 1976 and established the CCR office.
Here is a summary of key people who served the Renewal over the years:
1976-Fr. Ken Metz appointed Liaison
1987- Fr. Ken Metz became administrator of the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services in Rome and served until 1995 in this position.
1987- Sr. Josephe Marie Flynn SSND appointed Liaison.
1994- Deacon Rob Goodman appointed Liaison, Mary Goodman became CCR Office Manager.
1999- Gerry Mader appointed Associate Liaison.
2001- Patty Robinson became CCR Office Manager.
2002-Pentecost, Deacon Patrick appointed Liaison.
2003- Rosalita Villa became CCR Office manager.
2006- Marianne Skrobiak was appointed Associate Liaison.
