Book to be Read:   The Watson’s Go to Birmingham -1963

Write a good (5-7 sentences) paragraph for each of these study questions.

Chapters 1-4

Describe Kenny and Byron.  Tell about their home life, school life and how they get along.

Chapters 5-8

            Talk about what Byron did to his hair. Why were his parents so angry and what was their punishment?  Was this fair or not?

Chapters 9-11

            Describe their trip south.  Make sure you mention the rest stops in Ohio and Tennessee.  Why were they so careful about where they could stop?

Chapters 11- Epilogue

            What happens while they are in Birmingham?  Why does Bryon come home with them rather than stay down there as planned.

Do a little research on the Birmingham Church bombing of 1963.  Discovery the who, what, where, when and why facts that make up the story.  Summarize them in your own words.  Do a 5 slide power point or a 1 page reaction to what you have learned.  Include facts, but make sure your thoughts are included in this assignment
