Grade 7 Class Room 24 at 104 W. Dorthy Lane, kettering, OH 45429 US - Policies and Procedures

Policies and Procedures

Welcome to Ms. Tamer's Math Class

Behavior Policy

The rules of the classroom are as follows:

1)  Always be respectful, prepared, and on task.

2)  Always work hard and try your best.

3) Never disrupt class or annoy Ms. Tamer.

If you choose to break a rule, you will be given a warning.  If you earn three warnings during a class period, you will earn a Wednesday lunch detention in my room.  If it occurs again within the same 4-5 week grading period, you will earn a demerit (and after school detention).  If you only break one rule a day, but it is the same rule over and over, that can also result in a lunch detention or demerit.

Grading Policy

The school grading scale will be used:

A:  93% to 100%       B:  85% to 92%

C:  77% to 84%        D:  70% to 76%

Your math grade will be divided as follows:

        Tests, 35%             Quizzes, 35%        Homework, 30%

 Math Binders

For math this year, you will be using a binder in place of a notebook and folder.  Your binder will consist of the following three sections separated by dividers:

I.  Daily class notes                                II.  Homework Assignments

III.  Other

Your binder must be a basic 1-inch binder.  Your binder must contain loose-leaf paper.   You should not have to borrow paper from your neighbors.

There will also be binder quizzes throughout the year to make sure you have taken excellent notes and finished and corrected all of your homework.  They will also be collected each quarter for a binder quiz grade.

Homework assignments

Most often there will be homework assigned daily, and it will be due the following day unless otherwise told.  It is to be done in pencil, and the homework assignment must be written above the first line of the paper.  Daily homework will be checked 3 – 4 times a week for completion and effort.  Longer assignments, projects, etc, will be graded for accuracy.

Late or missed assignments

Late or missing daily homework will result in zero out of 5 points. Incomplete homework will result in the deduction of points.  One day late projects and larger assignments will result in a 10% grade reduction.  If the project is not turned in the next school day, it is a zero.

If you miss class due to an appointment, it is your responsibility to have the assignment completed for the next day.  If you are absent due to sickness, you have as many days as you were absent to make up all work.

Typical class period
·        Unless other wise told, always enter the room, immediately sit down, and quickly get out your homework.
  • During class everyone is expected to pay attention, take notes, and stay on task.
  • At the end of class, you will stay in your seat until I dismiss you.  If I am distracted and do not realize it is time to go, raise your hand and politely remind me.
