For each quarter, you can earn extra credit points by finding, reading, and summarizing a magazine or newspaper article that pertains to scientific topics or to science being used in the real world.  The article must be at least 400 words long and your summary should be two neat, grammatically correct, and well-organized paragraphs.   You are not to copy straight from the article or even paraphrase.  The summary must be in your own words and should include what the article is about (10 points), its relation to science (5 points), your thoughts on the article (5 points), and why you chose it (5 points).  You also need to include the bibiliographical information in MLA format for the source of your article (5 points). You are allowed one article per quarter.  If you have any questions about whether or not an article you found is appropriate, bring it in for me to see.

You are to turn in the article (or a copy of it) and your summary, both pasted (with a glue stick) or neatly taped onto construction paper with your name visible on the front.  All construction must be done at home and I will provide the piece of construction paper if necessary (and given enough notice).

This extra credit assignment is worth 25 points.

The last day to turn in an article summary for each quarter will be:
1st quarter: Friday, October 23
2nd quarter: Friday, January 15
3rd quarter: Friday, March 21
4th quarter: Wednesday, May 26
