Grade 5 Class Room 30 at 104 W. Dorothy Ln., Kettering, OH 45429 US - The History of Ohio
We have finished reading about the struggle for Ohio including the many wars with the Native Americans and the British. Chapter 5 will be all about Ohio becoming the 17th state and what pioneer life was like. The next test will be over chapters 4 & 5 on November 19th.
From now on, there will be essay questions on the test. I will send topics home with the children from which they may choose the essay answer they wish to prepare for the test. They should "build' their essay answer at home. Then they will be prepared to write it the day of the test. They will not be permitted to just turn in or copy a prepared essay.
Each time we finish a set of chapter notes, we circle the notes that will be covered on the test. The children should be reviewing as they go along, not waiting until right before the test.
********************************************************************************
We will be studying Ohio History for the first three quarters.
Every student is expected to have a Social Studies binder to help keep their material organized. As we read through the chapters in our textbook, the students will be expected to fill in chapter notes, learn the meanings of the vocabulary terms, and prepare for the end of the chapter tests. There will also be interesting projects and assignments as we go along.
