About Mrs. McGeady...

Professionally:

This school year is my 31st year of full time teaching, and I have been employed at Bishop Leibold School since 1984.  My professional experience includes teaching 8th grade at St. Anthony School for three years (Social Studies, Science, and Art), 2nd grade at Bishop Leibold for seven years (self-contained class), and this will be my twenty-first year teaching 6th grade at BLS (Reading, English, Spelling/Vocabulary with many years having also taught Religion).  Two years ago I taught one block of 7th grade Language Arts classes, which I will do agian this year.

Prior to my years at BLS (before my own children were in school), I worked part time for five years at Gas Light Academy tutoring students of all ages (1st grade through high school) in Reading and Math.  Additionally, I performed some of the initial student testing for the Gas Light Academy program and wrote reports about student testing results .

For many years, I provided summer tutoring at my home for families seeking additional academic skill development in Reading, English, Spelling, and Math.

Personally:

I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in Maple Heights (a suburb of Cleveland).  I attended and graduated from St. Wenceslas Elementary School, Lumen Cordium High School, and the University of Dayton (all Catholic schools).

There were six children in my family, and we are all teachers.  My parents always stressed the importance of faith and education, and that has obviously influenced all of us to teach and pass along God's love to others.  On May 27th, my parents celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary.  They are so awesome, the best role models, and true blessings to our family.

I have been married to Jack for 35 years.  He is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and we met at the University of Dayton.   We have two sons who attended and graduated from Bishop Leibold School, Alter High School, and the University of Dayton.

Our oldest son Brian and his wife Mary have given us three grandchildren.  Their first son, Patrick John (PJ), was full term but only lived 8.5 days due to an underdeveloped heart.  He was born on January 30th, 2006, and although this was a very difficult time in our lives, PJ is our angel and continues to be an inspiration to us.  Liam Patrick is their second child, and he turned three years old on July 18th.  Brian and Mary were also blessed with sweet Murphy Rose who turned one year old on May 24th.

Our youngest son Danny and his wife Theresa have two children.  Their first child, Jack (Jakob William), will be 5 years old a month after this school year begins. Jack was born on September 28th in 2006.  Elise Roberta is their second child.  She will celebrate her first birthday on September 29th, the day after her big brother's birthday.

My family fills my life with joy.  Besides teaching at BLS, I cherish most spending time with my family.  We love going out and doing things together and also just sitting around talking and being with one another.  We teach and learn from each other, we laugh often, cry at times, and we spend time praying together.  I feel very blessed.
