Columbiettes at 8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28277 US - Message from the President

Message from the President

Dear Sister Columbiettes,

This is the time of year that I am so thankful that I moved from Arizona to Charlotte, NC. I love to see the seasons change! Don’t get me wrong, the desert has its own beauties, but nothing beats the blossoms on the trees and seeing all of the flowers.

This is also the time of year when many of us conduct our “spring cleaning”. I was amazed how many websites I found with information on the best way to get organized and conduct a successful Spring Cleaning event in our homes. Then as I continued to look around and also found several web sites focused on conducting a Spring Cleaning of our Hearts and Souls.

Author Kathryn L. Robyn had a great suggestion for how to clean your soul.

  • Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle dividing the paper into two columns
  • At the top of one column write Things that make me feel wonderful and at the top of the other column write Things that make me feel uncomfortable.
  • Take some time and reflect on your life and write things down in either column.
  • At the end of a week review the list
  • Items in the Things that make me feel uncomfortable column need to be removed as “clutter” in your life
Now that you have identified those things that are clutter, you can work on getting rid of them by “throwing” them in the trash. If you happen to find something on the list you are not ready to “throw out” pack it up for storage to let it “season” for review at a later date. The throwing out can be as symbolic as writing each of those uncomfortable items on a different sheet of paper and throwing them into a trash can or if you are having a barbeque, into the fire. Once you “throw out” you should feel a burden lift from your shoulders. And most importantly it is gone forever now that you threw it away!

Albert Einstein wrote “Out of Clutter, Find Simplicity. From Discord, Find Harmony. From the Middle of Difficulty Lies Opportunity”. I hope that each of you finds some time to reflect and Spring Clean to lighten your load and then kick-back like a sunflower and turn your face toward the sun to be warmed by God’s Love!

God Bless,

Sara
