Motion to approve by Sister Francis; seconded by Mary Ann Grimm.
No change. Request has come in from St. Mary for reimbursement for in-service fee/sub.
Ms. Ankenbauer asked when we might hear about the grant. Dr. Bowman responded that they were being announced on May 22. The Committee was being awarded $3000 toward providing in-service opportunities.
The first plan is for a fall gathering for special education and resource persons. The main purpose is developing a networking system. Discussion will continue in June to get plans firmly set as to separate sessions for elementary and high school. Also a sub-committee will be set to work on the social. Members need to think of speakers who might be good for this. Ms. Dietz suggested the NKCES (Northern KY Co-op of Educational Services).
Discussion of whether some members are going to stay with committee and the need for additional members. Members are to think of persons they feel would have interest and invite to a meeting. Dr. Bowman suggested sending a message to their office seeking members and they would send to principals and parishes for bulletins/newsletters.
Discussion of Brochure changes needed. All are to use an old copy and make changes for next meeting. Dr. Bowman and Mike Quigley suggested Margie Powers with The Messenger might be able to help with layout. Ms. Ankenbauer asked about the web. Dr. Bowman responded that Ray Hildebrand updates. Send things through Marian West or Mike Quigley.
Carol Maschinot asked how committee funds are used. Ms. Ankenbauer explained it is used for furthering teacher awareness/abilities in teaching those with special needs.
