Members present: Ms. Anita Dunn, Ms. Jan Ankenbauer, Carol Maschinot, Ann Dietz

Members absent (excused): Ms. Mary Ann Grimm, Ms.Mary Kay Laird, Sister Mary Francis

Meeting opened with prayer by Mike Quigley at 10:05.

Welcome

Co-Chair Jan Ankenbauer welcomed Carol Maschinot and Ann Dietz as new members.

Minutes

Motion to approve by Jan Ankenbauer; seconded by Ann Dietz.

Financial

No change.

Grant

Ms. Ankenbauer reported that we received a letter notifying us of receiving grant of $3000.00. Check will be sent in fall to the Sister Dorothy Inclusive Education account.

First plan is for a fall gathering for Special Education/resource persons. Main purpose is developing a networking system for them.

Membership

Members are to think of persons they feel would have interest and invite to the July or August meeting. Suggestion was to seek principals, college personnel, and/or parents with interest. Also mentioned was business persons who might be interested.

Action Points/Brochure

Discussion of Brochure changes needed. Ms. Ankenbauer shared some wording suggestions from Mary Kay Laird and herself. Members also discussed getting a statement from Bishop Foys or using his statement of "there is no substitute for Catholic Education." Continue working on ideas with plans to finalize a brochure update in July and August.

Discussion of Bishops' statement from 1978 that is referenced in brochure. Anita Dunn had a copy in files. Mike Quigley made copies and offered to research for exact name of document.

Breakfast/Social Gathering

General discussion of format. Ann Dietz, Anita Dunn and Jan Ankenbauer agreed to meet on specific plans.

Other

Carol Maschinot shared a letter she had drafted to the Bishop requesting re-establishing the Commission for Persons with Disabilities. Committee will give input.

Anita Dunn reported that she was working on updating and condensing the Inclusive Committee's history.

Next Meeting

The next meeting will be held at the Department Of Education on July 26th at 10:00 a.m. in Rm. 361 of St. Elizabeth Medical Center North.
