“Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response” The United States Bishops’ Pastoral Letter Tells us that: As Christian Stewards, we… “Receive God’s gifts gratefully; Cultivate them responsibly Share them in love and justice with others; Return them with increase to the Lord.” Stewardship engenders a spirituality that depends upon our relationship with the Lord. It involves intentional, planned and proportional giving of our time, talent, and treasure. Stewards give in fulfillment of the Church’s mission and in recognition of all that we owe to a good and gracious God who has created us and has redeemed us. Stewardship focuses first on an individual’s responsibility to share and to give, rather than on the needs of the parish, Diocese, or community. The annual stewardship recommitment initiative is designed to invite everyone to enter into a time of personal reflection and reassessment of priorities. You are not inviting your parishioners into a comfort zone so they will feel “good” about their giving. You are challenging them to give as an outward expression of the inward change that results when they truly convert to a life of stewardship – a life of grace, prayer, gratitude, sharing, and service. All of us are constantly in the process of being renewed. Behavioral change is often a long and slow process. The stewardship recommitment process INFORMS and FORMS in order to TRANSFORM individual lives and the life of the parish. There are three components to the Stewardship Recommitment Process: Commitment to Prayer, Commitment to Ministry, and Commitment to Sacrificial Support. This parish guide, stewardship brochures, posters, and intention cards are designed to assist you in conducting the Recommitment Process. Your goals are to have your parishioners grow in their relationships with God and to have your parish take the next step in becoming a stewardship parish – one that is a welcoming, inclusive community that nurtures faith, shares leadership, listens to the needs of others, and reaches out to serve in the name of Jesus Christ. "Let your life shine before others, so that they may see your good worksand give glory to your Father in heaven." ~ Matthew 5:16 If you need assistance, please call the Stewardship Office at (859) 392-1540
