The Office of Stewardship seeks to serve every member of the Diocese of Covington through information and formation for "Stewardship As A Way Of Life."
Our goal is to assist parishes, individuals, schools and agencies in deepening their understanding of the theology, spirituality and practical application of the principles of stewardship through print and electronic media, conferences and consultations.
The Stewardship and Mission Office provides services and information regarding
- Provide educational and spiritual programs to assist our diocesan family in reevaluating its gifts of time, talent and treasure to God through its parish, diocese, community and other charities.
- Conduct orientations and prepares materials for schools and parishes interested in including stewardship education in their school curriculums or parish religious education programs.
- Provide assistance to parishes interested in beginning stewardship education programs, recruiting stewardship committees, and conducting renewal programs.
- Provide handbooks, brochures, commitment cards and other materials for annual parish stewardship renewal programs.
- Allocates Inner City, CCHD, Catholic Education Project, Black & Indian Mission, Operation Rice Bowl, Social Concerns Endowment and Mission Grants.
- Provides education to the diocesan family about the importance of estate planning and charitable giving through estate plans using planned giving vehicles such as bequests, charitable gift annuities, trusts, insurance, etc.
- Provides assistance to parishes and schools in implementing planned giving programs.
- Provides assistance to parishes and schools regarding endowment programs.
- Conducts annual Estate Planning Seminars for members of the diocese.
- Conducts annual conference for area estate planning professionals.
- Coordinates the Diocesan Legacy Society for friends of the diocese who have remembered the Church in their estate plans.
- Coordinates Diocesan Charitable Gift Annuity Progam.
- Publishes handbook on planned giving for parishes.
- Plans organizes and directs the Diocesan Parish Annual Appeal
- Serves as the bishop's representative and contact for the following: Propogation of the Faith, Catholic Relief Services, Holy Childhood Association, Church in Eastern Europe, Holy Land Collection, Peter's Pence Collection, Operation Rice Bowl, Catholic Campaign for Human Developement, Black and Indian Home Missions, Latin American Collection,The Catholic University, and Catholic Home Missions Appeal.
- Implements two diocesan wide combined appeals: International Needs Collection and Domestic Needs Collection.
- Coordinates Mission Cooperative presentations in all parishes.
- Coordinates Emergency/Disaster Appeals.
- Maintains relationships with Brother and Sister Missionaries from the Diocese of Covington.
Resource Development
- Advises elementary and secondary schools and diocesan agencies in planning and implementing comprehensive, volunteer-based development programs.
- Conducts development audits/assesments for schools, agencies and other diocesan organizations.
- Serves as a resource for parishes and schools interested in special fund raising campaigns.
- Hosts educational meeting for secondary school development officers.
Capital Campaigns
- Provides assistance and advice regarding capital campaigns for parishes, schools and diocesan agencies.
