History of our Catholic School
Story excerpted from the Diamond Jubilee Book 1956

School Building Under Construction

In September 1911, the school opened its doors for the first session. Venerable Sister M. Josepha left Lafayette for North Judson accompanied by a little band of Sisters, three in number. Venerable Sisters Olivia, Emma and Geralda, the first two of whom were to conduct the school. They arrived in the afternoon of September of the 6th, and were met by Miss Mary Blaschke, who conducted them to their future home.

September 9th, registration was held and an enrollment of 72 pupils were recorded. On September 12th, the school opened in earnest. The desks not having arrived in due time for classes, had to be taken up in the hall on the second floor. It is not difficult to realize the inconvenience of both pupils and teachers, yet each loved the work and visible progress was made.

The devoted Sister were soon aware of the vast field of labor trusted to their care, but also of the fertile soil upon which the good seed fell. God in His goodness fructified the seed by His gentle rain and the warm sunshine of His grace, so after a short time a great improvement was achieved. Parents and friends lent a willing hand and with their cooperation the ittle saplings were transplanted into God's garden where they grew and flourished to be the mainstay of the future parish.
