About 2 months ago my niece announced to our family that she was checking herself into the Serenity House for alcoholics. After years she finally realized and admitted that she had a problem! That was her first step towards recovery. One has to admit the problem even exists. We went to see her this last weekend and on the surface things seem to be going well. She had a 4 hour pass so we went to dinner together then took a leisurely walk through Harrison State Park near Fayette. As she learns to take control of her life she'll earn longer passes and even a weekend back with her family.

I noticed that afternoon how Kyle, her 14 year old son, needed to be close to her. The two of them sat right next to one another in the back seat. When we walked in the park he was right with her the entire time. It was wonderful to see them together and it made me recall something my cousin had told me a few weeks ago when she took Kyle to get his glasses fixed. They were talking about winning the lottery. My cousin asked Kyle what he would do with all that money. Without even thinking he said...”make my mom well again!” Out of the mouths of babes! Kyle's a typical teenager who loves computer games, TV and girls. But when it came to his mother he just wanted her to be well again. It reminded me of something else as well. Where are our true treasures? Where is wealth? Doesn't the bible teach us that where are heart is there is our treasure? Here is a boy who seldom goes to church and when he does is bored to death. And yet, he knows in his heart where his wealth truly is? Kyle loves his mom. This could only be from God! Love is the answer. Amazing, isn't it!
