MISSION STATEMENT
 

As an affiliate of the National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) we act through their guidance and our affiliated organizations and members to support, empower and educate all Catholic women in spirituality, leadership and service.  Like NCCW, the Springfield in Illinois Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) programs respond with gospel values to the needs of the chruch and society in the modern world.

 

 INFORMATION ABOUT US....

The Sprinfield Diocese is comprised of seven deaneries, covering 28 central Illinois counties.  In our 80 years, we have had 5 bishops, 12 moderators and 33 presidents.

The DCCW President serves for two years as president and one year as president-elect before taking office.  She is elected from the membership of the Board of Directors by the directors.  Members of the affiliated units, in their respective deaneries, elect the seven deanery presidents.

The Board of Directors is composed of deanery presidents, two directors-at-large from each of the seven deaneries, one representative from nationally recognized women's organizations (Daughters of Isabella and Catholic Daughters of the Americas), any member of the NCCW Board of Directors who resides in the Diocese, Past Presidents of the DCCW and Diocesan Commission Chairs appointed by the President.  Our seven deanery moderatos also have board membership status.

The Springfield DCCW has an office in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception office complex staffed by DCCW Board of Directors.

Deanery meetings are held three times a year - November, March, and August.  The DCCW president attends 2 deanery meetings per year.  The seven deaneries take turns hosting the DCCW Annual Convention which is usually held in the fall.

An Annual DCCW Retreat is held during Lent.

We are an active DCCW that follows NCCW programs and attends the National convention and General Assembly.
