Mission Statement

The mission of the Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute is to provide an integrated lay ecclesial ministry formation program that will prepare the laity to offer their unique gifts in service to the local church.  Responding to the implications of their baptismal commitment they will be better equipped to serve as competent leaders in the parishes of this culturally diverse diocese, ever mindful of their primary commitment to family life.  In accordance with the teachings and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church, they serve as agents of evangelization and transformation in the society in which they live, as members of the Body of Christ, here in the Diocese of St. Petersburg.

LPMI... Read All About It!

One of the initiatives of our newly formed Alumni Association is to keep everyone informed about LPMI people and activities. In order to do this, we have developed a newsletter. The newsletter will share information about the Alumni Association activities, what's happening in the program, insights on lay eccesial ministry, and updates on participants. We hope to produce the newsletter quarterly. It will be posted on the LPMI website, as well as emailed to current and past participants.

If you have any information that you would like to share, please refer to the  contact information on the newsletter. If you are an alumnus of the program and have not yet signed up for the Alumni Association, there is a sign up form in the newsletter. We hope to hear from you.

The latest issue (April 2013) focuses on the Year of Faith: The Role of the Community in Faith Formation.

Looking For LPMI Alumni
Have you signed up yet for the LPMI Alumni Association? The Alumni Association is in full swing. We regularly post newsletters highlighting the LPMI program and updates on the activities of past participants. The Association also hosted it's first event this past spring. It was a glorious Day of Reflection at Christ the King parish in Tampa. You can read about it in the latest newsletter. We are currently planning for another day in 2012, and we want you to be a part of it.

Emails have been sent to alumni asking for updated contact information. If you have not received an email, it means we don't have your current info. If you received an email and have not yet responded, please do so soon. We want to make sure you are informed of our activities! Please click on the following link and download the attached
LPMI Alumni Association Form. Fill it out and return it to the LPMI Office with $10 registration fee. The registration is good for one year.

We hope to hear from you soon!

Video Daily Reflections

The U.S. bishops’ Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC) has expanded its streaming video site, CCC-TV, to include daily reflections, interviews and stories of faith that offer a range of engaging multimedia content. The new features give visitors the opportunity to experience the rich tapestry of Catholic faith from diverse perspectives and learn about the activities of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Church across the country. Daily reflections offer brief commentaries on the Mass readings of the day. The Archdioceses of Galveston-Houston, New Orleans, Miami, San Antonio, Washington, D.C and the Dioceses of Fort Wayne-South Bend and Raleigh are currently participating. Several other dioceses are scheduled to tape reflections for the coming year.
