At almost every baby shower, books abound that offer parenting expertise on raising healthy children. And just when you think you’ve mastered the skills required, your child turns into a teenager and what has always worked in the past now feels futile. Parenting adolescents can be a difficult, confusing and painful challenge.
Parenting Adolescents Group
· How do you instill values in a young person who is bombarded by cultural messages such as: win at all costs; be number one; the more you own the happier you’ll be; don’t trust anyone; and expect instant gratification?
· How do you navigate a teen through the dangers of cyber-bullying, sexual promiscuity, unhealthy role models, experimentation with alcohol and designer drugs?
Being a parent in today’s world demands creativity, flexibility, resilience and persistence that can often be difficult to muster.
This 4 week group will provide opportunities to discuss your parenting concerns, receive support from other parents, explore boundary and limit setting issues, re-envision your role as a parent, and strengthen your own inner resources.
Cost: $15 per session
Facilitator: Linda Condon, LMHC, TEP
