FACE TO FACE BENEFITS FROM 18th ANNUAL TURKEY TROT RACE THANKSGIVING MORNING
Yearly 5 mile run/1 mile run/walk to Benefit Human Services Organization in Germantown

Philadelphia, PA – One thousand runners and fans will gather to race Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 25th. The race will begin at 9 am along Northwestern and Germantown Avenues in Chestnut Hill. Eighteen years ago the Maguire Family and Philadelphia Insurance Companies initiated the Turkey Trot, which has grown from a fun run into a competitive 5 Mile Race with a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. This event takes place early on Forbidden Drive in Chestnut Hill.

Proceeds from the Turkey Trot benefit Face to Face Germantown. Face to Face is a human services organization which provides free meals, nurse-managed health care, legal and social services, computer training, creative arts studios, and children’s after school and summer programming. Focusing on the power of human connection, Face to Face creates encounters of hospitality in the Germantown community.

“The Turkey Trot is a great way to dedicate your Thanksgiving morning to supporting families and individuals in need for the holidays,” said Mary Kay Meeks-Hank, Face to Face Executive Director. “The event is our largest yearly fundraiser, and generates the resources to feed 16,000 meals each year. We are honored to partner with Philadelphia Insurance Companies this season.”

Founded in 1984 and incorporated in 1996, Face to Face provides a full range of programs dedicated to the health and well-being of the members in the community who struggle the most, and by doing so contributes to the stability of the community. Entirely funded through grants and donations, Face to Face sponsors a dining room, health and legal clinics, summer camp, after school programs, and neighborhood writing and art initiatives.
