Filipino Ministry of Northern Virginia at 26037 Rachel Hill Drive, South Riding, VA 20152 US - Mission and Vision Statement

Mission and Vision Statement

Welcome New Members!
V I S I O N Filipino and Filipino Americans, faithful members of the Roman Catholic Church, a communion of communities, witnessing, sharing, and celebrating Christ’s message of love through their traditions that build up the kingdom of God. M I S S I O N We, the Filipino Ministry of Northern Virginia, exist to aid in the pastoral outreach of the Bishop of Arlington and Pastors of the Diocese of Arlington to serve the Filipino community, in order to facilitate their inculturation and integration into the larger church community and conversely to allow the Filipino culture and religiosity to enrich and strengthen the faith of the larger community. G O A L S 1. To fulfill our Mission and Vision, we submit ourselves to God’s calling with an attitude of servant hood as exemplified in the life of Christ and to continually discern the Holy Spirit’s desire in fulfilling His mission through the laity. 2. To develop a collaborative ministry between the leadership of the parish-based Filipino Ministry groups and Filipino religious groups. 3. To network and encourage participation and leadership in the Filipino Ministry of Northern Virginia from local parish based Filipino Ministry or Filipino religious groups. 4. To assist and serve as a resource ministry to the local parish based Filipino Ministry or Filipino religious groups in fulfilling their mission and vision. 5. To establish a Filipino Apostolate in each parish- based Filipino Ministry and help serve the church reach out to the Filipino American community by setting up Parish ministry such as Family Life and youth, spiritual life, education and human concerns. 6. To encourage the Filipino parishioners to register in their parish and partake in the active life of the parish as Eucharistic ministers, lectors, ushers and so forth. 7. To acquire a formal Diocesan recognition of the Filipino Ministry of Northern Virginia, as proper representation of the Filipino Community in the Northern Virginia. 8. To exist as an outreach network for social and cultural issues affecting the Filipino American community, by assisting the community with programs and projects, as well as a referral network for services needed. 9. To collaborate with local secular Filipino organization with projects related to Faith, culture, and social awareness issues. Project Proposal 2003 We hope to preserve our cultural values and faith tradition by presenting themes and liturgical celebrations, which reflects our beliefs. In the process, we hope that the core group leadership of Filipino Ministry of Northern Virginia would accomplish the task on the following items: ·Community support and participation in Diocesan level Filipino Ministry activities and spiritual programs. ·To facilitate evangelization and catechesis relevant to Filipino culture and Filipino spirituality, by offering a lay leadership formation for the Filipino Ministry. ·To reach out to non-religious and religious groups as a resource network for faith and spiritual nourishment of the churched and unchurched. ·To encourage and support the training and formation of the Filipino youth and young adults. ·To promote religious vocations for the Filipino Community. We welcome your assistance in helping us serve God’s community. If you would like more information, please contact us at 703-403-5624 Ed Tiong, Coordinator or Email @ filamccm@earthlink.net
