Christmas Letter 2007 |
Franciscan Daughters of Mary 336 East 16th Street Covington, KY 41014 859-491-3899
Blessed Christmas!! This is the time when we are always the busiest at the Rose Garden. We are serving as many as 1,500 families a week --- every week. And, yes we are really busy now trying to help those we serve have a spirit filled Christmas: some clothes and toys for the kids, a holiday meal for families, a candy cane and a smiling face, because every child deserves a great Christmas. We are welcoming new babies every week, as well as new Moms to our roster. We have witnessed some of our homeless return to apartments feeling like they had another chance at life. We have helped young families with food and baby necessities. We have been blessed to witness several people’s return to Our Lord. And we always provide a smile, a willing ear and part of our day to those who feel that no one cares. What a year this has been! We have been truly blessed to witness so many of God’s miracles.
In the past, people have asked us why we were able to help such a diverse group of God’s children. We told them that the only success we can claim is that we go from moment to moment seeking to do the Will of the Lord. Our many volunteers are also a big part of God’s success, God uses all His children to help His needy ones. People make the difference in His plan. One of my favorite holiday traditions is watching Frank Capra’s classic movie “It’s a Wonderful Life. Each person’s life is important even when they don’t see it that way. It took an angel to show George Bailey what life in his small town would have been if he were not born. That simple movie makes a hard-hitting pro-life statement about the uniqueness and importance of each life in God’ s plan and the effect that one life can have on others.
To those of you who have supported us with faithful prayer, material donations and financial support, thank you for helping us be there to help those who have needed us the most. We couldn’t do it without you! YOU HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE IN SO MANY LIVES! Thank you for answering God’s call to help those that are so often forgotten or deemed insignificant by our society.
At this time of year, I am asking once again for your financial support so The Franciscan Daughters of Mary can continue to defend, protect and nurture life at every stage from conception to natural death. Life is always so precious. Especially at this time of the year, we remember what a difference ONE birth made in the world. That, my brothers and sisters gives us the reason to rejoice each and every day. Wishing you all a Blessed Christmas and A Happy New Year, I
In theHeart of the Holy Child,
Mother Serapohina Marie of the
Blessed Trinity, FDM
