GROWS Literacy Council at 947 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, FL 32703 US - Home

Welcome...

Since 1988, GROWS staff and volunteers have taught more than 7,500 low-income adults in Central Florida to read, write and speak English on a level allowing them to function proficiently on the job and in their communities. GROWS recently received an Excellence in Education Award from the Florida Literacy Coalition, and was also selected by the Florida Family Literacy Initiative as one of two Best Practice Family Literacy programs in the state.

It is the mission of GROWS to build better communities by educating non-English speakers to overcome problems such as unemployment, low-paying jobs, lack of health benefits, language barriers, cultural isolation and the inability to help their children achieve success in school and adapt to North American culture.

In 1994 GROWS became a 501 (c) (3), community-based organization and a participating member of Pro Literacy and the Florida Literacy Coalition.  GROWS does not discriminate in access to employment or does it discriminate in admission to or participation in the agency’s classes, programs or activities, on the basis of race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, marital status, handicap or any other reason prohibited by law.
