Viewing the images coming out of Haiti, pictures of little children suffering terribly, some with arms and legs hastily and excruciatingly amputated, pictures of desperate people struggling for a bit of water or food, along with other images of terrible and painful human suffering, who has not wondered why God has allowed such cruelties to beset us not only now but down through the ages of human history? Why is it that this happens when God is all-powerful and infinitely good? Where is God in human suffering?
