Worship Ministry |
We are a worshipping community
of faith, celebrating the Sacraments, and following the Way of Jesus on
the journey of discipleship. Worship begins with the Word and the Sacrament
and continues the Liturgy of life in the care and concern for the People
of God. Six elected members - chosen by lot - serve for three year terms.
There are also representatives for the various ministries as well as auxiliary
members. Meetings are bi-monthly and a calendar for the year is provided.
The commission has representation on the Parish Council MINISTERS OF THE WORD (LECTORS) MINISTERS OF COMMUNION MINISTERS OF THE TABLE (SACRISTANS) MINISTERS OF HOSPITALITY (USHERS/GREETERS) MINISTERS OF THE ALTAR (SERVERS) MINISTERS OF ART AND ENVIRONMENT MINISTERS OF THE TABERNACLE GUILD AND LINEN CARE MINISTERS OF PRAYER

Good communication skills and love
of Scripture is required for this ministry.

Love of the Eucharist and the Body of Christ in
Sacrament and in the people gathered around the altar.
A reverence for the Sacrament and a deep
prayer life is expected of these ministers.

Prepare and set the Altar for the Liturgy.
Expect to arrive and stay at the conclusion of the
Mass for about 15 minutes to take care of the
necessary preparation for the Mass.
Families are encouraged to accept this ministry -
especially if they have school age children who
would learn from watching and assisting their
parents in this ministry.

How wonderful to be greeted at the door as a friend of
Christ and find a warm welcome! Ushers prepare for
good order, and gentle flow of movement when people are processing. They receive the offerings and see that
they are taken to a safe place. Bulletins and liturgical
printed hand-outs are distributed by the Ushers.

Open to all ages: adults, teens, children beginning at fourth
grade level. Two sessions are offered in preparation for
this ministry. Parents are encouraged to serve with the
younger children.

Open to all artists, designers, floral arrangers, those who
work with fabric or other textures. The artist provides beauty
which is one of the characteristics of God - especially visible
in our natural world. God is Love and God is Beauty, and
we humans are made in God's image.

These are "behind the scenes" people who see that the altar linens are washed, pressed, folded and ready for the next Mass.
They fill the holy water fonts, change the candles, polish the brass, treat the wood and see to it that all vessels and vestments are
ready for the Assembly to come to common prayer.

These are people who support the Parish with their prayer -
in the pews, at home, in hospitals, in nursing homes.
Prayer is at the heart of all ministry. Some of these people
lead wake services, the rosary, attend the monthly hour of
Adoration, or come together to participate in Centering Prayer.
We especially need volunteers who will tend to those who
are grieving and lead the Scripture or Rosary at Wake Services,
or lead the concluding prayers at the gravesite in the
cemetery after the Funeral Liturgy.
