Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, now known as Holy Cross Catholic Church was founded in 1892 by Fr. D.A. Thompson. As the community grew and more Catholics attended Mass thoughts were turned to building a new church. The cornerstone was laid in May 1903 and April 4 1904 Mass was held in the new church. when the new church was built it was then decided to change the name. The new church was dedicated under the title of Holy Cross on June 18, 1904.
On March 9, 1915 a devastating fire destroyed the church.
The building of the new church was completed in 7 months and the church was dedicated on Dec. 15, 1915
Holy Cross commemorated it's 100th Anniversary on Sept. 15, 1992. Holy Cross is very proud of her ancestral roots.
We invite you to join us for Mass if you are ever in the area.
