Holy Name Catholic Church at 3814 Nash Blvd., San Antonio, TX 78223 US - Knights of Columbus
Knights of Columbus
On October 12, 1984, Columbus Day, Holy Name Council No. 8789 was chartered as council of the Knights of Columbus. Originally, there were 85 members; the council has now grown to its current membership of 148 members. It was formed under the direction of District deputy John Bukowski who is a parishioner of Holy Name.
Monthly meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month starting with the recitation of the Rosary prior to each meeting. While being the largest Fraternal Catholic men's organization in the United States, its' primary function is to follow the virtue of charity and fighting for the "Rights to Life" movement.
Since our inception in 1984, this Council has donated more than $60,000 to the various projects/events of our parish, community, State and National KC charity projects and vocations. Nationally, millions of dollars are donated to various organizations. The Vatican also receives more than $1,000,000 annually from the KC's.
We work in harmony with other parish organizations to achieve a special goal in making Holy Name the best parish in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. We wish to promote the Catholic faith and its' ideals to all of its members. If you wish to join or want information about the Knights of Columbus, please contact any KC member. May God Bless you always.
