Holy Name Parish Activity Center

During the administration of Msgr. Charles E. Herzig (October 1, 1980 – January 2, 1984), came the full realization of the Holy Name Parish Activity Center with the ground breaking ceremony on July 18, 1981 with Archbishop Patrick Flores leading the dedication.  A formal open house and dedication ceremony was held August 21, 1982 with a Mass, dinner and dance.

Currently the Activity Center is where the Holy Name School children enjoy breakfast and lunch.  Academic Awards Programs, Athletic Banquets and Graduations have been held here.

Various gatherings have taken place through the years: Festivals, Faith Formation Sessions and Community Meetings.  For more information about the Activity Center, contact Cathy and Jake Kelley at 210-337-1177.

Due to normal wear and tear over the years, the Restroom facilities of the Activity Center were renovated.  To make the renovation possible, several of the Parish Organizations came together to donate funds to bring the restroom facilities in the Activity Center to their current updated state.  Ongoing work continues at the Activity Center.  If you would like to donate; we have a Maintenance and Upkeep Fund for this purpose.  To make your donations towards this cause, please label your donation as such or use the Maintance Fund envelopes in your monthly pack of offering envelopes.  If you wish to receive envelopes, please come by the Rectory for more information: Mon-Fri 9:00a.m.-6:00p.m. Sat 9:00a.m.-1:00p.m.

Our Parish's History

Due to the growth of St. Margaret Mary Parish, the Archdiocese purchased ten acres of land on January 31, 1957.with the intention of eventually forming a new parish. In December of that year, a temporary chapel was erected by Father Edward Dworaczyk, who was then the Pastor of the "mother" parish. Following its dedication, the first and second grades of school were taught at the front end of the building for the next two years. This chapel-school was considered an annex of the school at St. Margaret Mary.
