Altar Society News

Our Parish Christmas Party was held on Sunday, December 14th after Mass. It has been a few years since we have had such an event and the Altar Society hopes everyone who attended had a good time. There were only 51 RSVP’s received but almost 100 people showed up. Fortunately, like the story of the loaves and fishes, we had enough food for everyone. There was shrimp with cocktail sauce, veggies and dip, build your own nachos and of course those delicious cheese balls made by Therese Harlan. We ate, talked and laughed, sang songs and passed out door prizes. The Altar Society presented a check to the parish for $1,500.00. Those fabulous Potica Bakers presented a check for $10,000.00! What great gifts to the parish; we are blessed to have so many hard working ladies (and a few good men) to help with the Altar Society and the Potica Bakers. Keep those donations of flour and sugar coming in the New Year.

The party ended rather abruptly when the Slovenian Choir members had to leave for practice; we know they’ll sound great on Christmas morning. We hope you all have a blessed and happy Christmas with continued blessings in the New Year.

The Altar Society does not have any fund raising events scheduled in January, remember Sausage Feast is at the end of the month and you’ll need to make your reservations to attend. We will hold our meeting on the fourth Thursday, January 22nd at 6:00 p.m. At this meeting we will be planning our February Valentine Breakfast and starting to plan for our Cabbage Roll Dinner in March. We hope you can attend and share your ideas.
