The Holy Trinity Conference of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul will once again sponsor our Advent Giving Tree. Many people within our parish boundaries are asking for help this Christmas. The parents write a letter to the SVDP asking for help. Then Betty Wesley goes to their home to visit and verify the children’s’ ages and sizes. Once all the information is gathered, Betty will prepare Angel gift tags for each child. The tags will include the child’s name, age, sex and what to buy. We will have all of the tags grouped together and hung on our Giving Tree on the First Sunday of Advent.
We are asking the parishioners of Holy Trinity to help with this project by taking a tag or group of tags and purchasing the items listed. The need is great and we need your support to be successful in bringing a little Christmas joy to the children in our Haughville community. We know that many families are struggling to make ends meet this year and whatever we can do to help is greatly appreciated. Maybe you do not like to shop; we will accept cash donations and do the shopping for you. All gifts must be returned to church by Sunday December 14th. Please wrap your gift and tape the Angel tag to the OUTSIDE of your package. Without the tag on the outside, we do not have any way of knowing who the gift is for and have to unwrap it and then re-wrap it.
Our Conference will be sorting the gifts during the week so that the families can come to Holy Trinity on Saturday December 20th to pick up their gifts. The families we help are always so thankful for our help.
