Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 901 North Holmes Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46222 US - Letter from Ed Johnson

Letter from Ed Johnson

Dear Parishioners and Friends of Holy Trinity,

This issue of the Trinitarian has several items to report of considerable interest.

Bockhold Hall:  Thanks to your donations to the Bockhold Hall fund, which have been more than matched by three very generous memorial contributions, we now have sufficient monies to fund our first major project of the Bockhold Hall renovation – replacement of the roof on Bockhold Hall.  The re-roofing project is the essential first step to salvaging this building for our future.  Major projects remaining are:

  • Replacement of the windows and framing structure to correct sagging of our brick walls;
  • air conditioning of the dining room and parish meeting rooms;
  • repainting and refurbishing throughout the building;
  • providing handicap access equipment.

Obviously our plate is full, so the Bockhold Hall Fund still needs your continued support.   Thank you for your generosity and loyalty to your spiritual home.

Holy Family Shelter:  Demolition of Lavric and Mary Carl Halls and the rectory garage are about to begin to make way for the new Holy Family Shelter.  See the article inside for details.

Carolyn Miller’s Retirement as Editor of the Trinitarian and the Weekly Bulletin:  After many years of loyal and dedicated service to Holy Trinity, Carolyn Miller is stepping down as the editor of this monthly newsletter as well as the parish bulletin.  Not only has Carolyn been a capable editor for both publications, but she has been tenacious about helping those who feed her copy in meeting deadlines.  She has also assembled a successful production team to assure that the Trinitarian meet its ambitious monthly schedule.  In addition, she has encouraged parishioners and friends of Holy Trinity to contribute funds to support monthly mailings.  In all these things Carolyn has shown her ongoing love and commitment to our parish.  She deserves our prayerful good wishes and gratitude for her faithful service.

New Bulletin and Trinitarian Editors:  I am pleased to announce that long-time parishioner Linda Lupear has agreed to edit the parish bulletin.  Perhaps you have seen her handiwork in our newly formatted bulletin which began publishing on October 19.  Thank you, Linda!  -- Kathy Ivancic, another long-time parishioner, has stepped forward to become our new Trinitarian editor.  This month’s newsletter is her inaugural issue.  We appreciate Kathy’s willingness to tackle this task.

  • Contributors to the bulletin should forward copy to Linda at 2919 North County Rd 425E, Danville, IN 46122llupear@iquest.net.
  • Contributors to the Trinitarian should send copy to Kathy at 1420 North Medford Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46222medfordgirl@earthlink.net.

Gloria Leffler Retiring:  After years and years of service to Holy Trinity Church as the parish custodian, Gloria Leffler is retiring.  Her last workday is October 31, 2008.  Gloria has not only loyally served to keep our facilities clean and well maintained for our parishioners and the day-care programs offered here, but has been a welcoming and faithful round-the-clock presence to all who visit our parish.  Happy retirement, Gloria!  You will be missed by all of us!

God bless!
