MEDVESEK AND DIAL FAMILIES FUND BOCKHOLD HALL PROJECT

Due to the kindness of the Medvesek and Dial families, the project to replace the roof on Bockhold Hall has achieved full funding.  Earlier this year Holy Trinity received a $40,000.00 bequest from the estate of deceased parishioner Raymond Medvesek dedicated to funding the facility needs of Holy Trinity parish.  Together with $15,000.00 residual funds from the Centennial Capital Campaign and another $10,000.00 in contributions to the Bockhold Hall Fund, Holy Trinity had a down payment of $65,000.00 toward the much needed replacement of the Bockhold Hall roof – anticipated to cost $95,000.00.

Holy Trinity Parish is grateful to report that Mr. Robert Dial and his children, Thomas Dial and Diana Sutkamp, have together made generous contributions in the amount of $30,000.00 to complete funding of the Bockhold Hall re-roofing project.  Their donations were made in memory of beloved wife and mother, Sylvia Medvesek Dial, who was also a sister of Raymond Medvesek.

Older parishioners may remember Sylvia as the daughter of Louis and Julia Medvesek.  She attended Holy Trinity Grade School.  After 13 years of employment with Indiana Bell, she became a homemaker to raise her children.  Later in life she went back to work for 17 years for the Speedway Police Department.  She and her husband were parishioners at St. Christopher Catholic Church.  Sylvia enjoyed flowers, having a garden, and ballroom dancing.  Mrs. Dial was 83 years old at the time of her death on May 17, 2006.  She was buried from Holy Trinity Church, where she and her husband, Robert, were married 59 years earlier.

Replacement of the Bockhold Hall roof is expected to begin in November.

HOLY FAMILY SHELTER DEMOLITION PROJECT TO BEGIN

After many months of delay, the much-awaited demolition of Lavric and Mary Carl Halls is about to begin.  This will make way for the construction of a new and enlarged Holy Family Shelter to be operated by Catholic Charities, and which will be relocated from Sacred Heart parish to Holy Trinity when construction is completed in 2009.

The first stage involves installation by the Archdiocese of a new boiler in the basement of Holy Trinity Church in late November or early December.  In the past, heat was provided to the church from a boiler located in Lavric Hall.  While the new boiler is being prepared for and installed, heat will be provided by a system of electric heat blowers already installed and operational in the church.  New gas lines for the boiler and the rectory are presently being re-routed from Holmes Avenue along the south side of the church.

While boiler installation is underway, demolition will begin this fall on Lavric and Mary Carl Halls as well as the rectory garage.  When completed, the new Holy Family Shelter, will beautifully blend with the architectural design of Holy Trinity Church, and will be accessible through a landscaped rear entrance.  It will be physically attached to the north side of the church by an atrium featuring new restrooms and handicapped access to both front and rear parking.
