Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 901 North Holmes Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46222 US - January 2009 Meeting

The first meeting of the new year for the Parish Council occurred on January 21st.  The council got to work on some of the more pressing topics facing our church.  The financial report for the Armchair Horse Racing event was shared.  This past year’s event was poorly attended, but the parish nearly broke even on the event.  This event will not take place in the future, and the council is exploring other fundraising options.

The planning for this year’s Reverse Raffle is underway. The event will take place on February 21st.  Volunteers are already working on getting silent auction items and selling tickets.  If you’d like to purchase tickets please contact Tom Kashman at 339-8883.

The construction on Holy Family Shelter is temporarily stalled while the company awaits proper drainage permitting to finish the project.  We are expecting it to be finished sometime in the late fall of 2009.

The financial report was given and while collections are below the budget by about $3000 for the fiscal year, the parish has reduced expenses and is outperforming its budgeted income.

The “Young at Heart” group is experiencing good participation.  They will be visiting the new Central Library and Indianapolis Airport on their next adventure.

The council is currently exploring options for new fundraisers and outreach programs in the neighborhood.  If you would like your input heard please feel free to attend a committee meeting, or speak to any council representative.

The Stewardship Commission reported that KSKJ has donated 25 tables and 3 new toilets for the gym in Bockhold Hall. We are also working with a local Boy Scout troop to rebuild the shrine to Mary in the lot south of the church. We are trying to find an expert user for the handicap lift outside church to help with those that need to use it, as well as addressing problems with the speaker system in church.

The Faith Formation and Family Life Commission would like to report that we’re in the planning stages for the Christ Renews retreat, and that St Vincent de Paul meetings are now on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.

Spiritual Life is working on new minister guidelines for those serving during Mass. Please keep an eye out for those.
