Black Catholic Caucus

 

On January 25, 2009, Diana Davis, President of the Indianapolis Black Catholic Caucus (IBCC) hosted the first meeting of the year at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bockhold Hall located at 902 North Holmes Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana.  The meeting commenced at 3:00 p.m. with approximately 15 members in attendance.

 

The next meeting will be held on April 19th at St. Rita Catholic Church located at 1733 Dr. Andrew J. Brown Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana.

     Arusi Marriage Retreat    

 

On March 20th – 22nd the Black Catholic Caucus and the Archdiocesan Office of Multicultural Ministry will be hosting the “Arusi Marriage Retreat” at the Benedict Inn Retreat and Conference Center located at 1402 Southern Avenue, Beech Grove, Indiana.  Presenters will be Andrew and Terri Lyke; the cost is $70.00 per couple.  To register please call Father Kenneth Taylor at the Multicultural Ministry at 317-236-1562.  For in-depth information about “Arusi” visit www.archindy.org/multicultural/events.html

 

 

Fundraising is Ministry

 

The National Black Catholic Congress (NBCC) Symposium on Development and Fundraising will be hosting “Fundraising is Ministry” on May 28th – 29th at University Place Conference Center & Hotel (IUPUI) (www.universityplace.iupui.edu) located at 850 West Michigan Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. 

 

Core workshops will be taught by nationally-renowned experts from The Fund Raising School and the Lake Institute on Faith and Giving, both at Indiana University’s Center on Philanthropy.  Invited speakers are from the Black & Indian Missions, the Koch Foundation and the National Leadership Roundtable on Church Management.

 

Participants will learn about Fundraising as Ministry, Fundraising Planning & Managing, Nurturing Donors, Grant Searches, Proposal Writing, Internet Fundraising, Proposal Budgets, Creating Cultures of Generosity, Practical Advice from Catholic Grantmakers, Planned Giving and much more.

 

Register early as space is limited.  The registration fee is $195.00 which includes access to all seminars and speakers, plus breakfast, breaks and lunch.  Personal, company, parish and diocesan checks, money orders, certified or cashier’s checks will be accepted.  Registration fee should be mailed to the NBCC Office, National Black Catholic Congress, Attention:  Fundraising Conference, 320 Cathedral Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201-4421, and must be received by April 26, 2009.
