About Our History
At the request of Chief Koostahtah and Chief Mathias, Jesuit priests first came to the valley in 1854. Up to 1913 they came here from the St. Ignatius Mission. In 1913, Fr. William O'Maley was appointed pastor of Ronan and Polson. Later as the parishes grew, another priest came to Ronan and Fr. O'Maley remained in Polson until his death in 1956. Our present church building was completed in 1967 during the pastorate of Fr. Leonard Jensen. The original photo of Chiefs Koostahta and Mathias with Fr. O'Maley (above photo) hangs in the vestibule of our present church.
