1. POLICY ON USE OF CHURCH FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT a. Parish functions [i.e. parish dinners, Religious Education, funerals, etc.] always takes precedence over any other use even if the day has been previously rented by a individual parishioner, parish organization, or outside individual or group. i. Parish Members for such events as weddings, funerals, anniversary celebrations, etc.: $0.00 d. USE OF THE CHURCH HALL/KITCHEN for: i. Parish Members for funerals: $0.00 e. USE OF THE CHURCH HALL ONLY [with or without the use of coffee pots] for: i. Parish Members for funerals: $0.00 f. Secular Organizations and non-parish members desiring to use the church building must apply for permission from the Pastor and submit the nature and content of the event at the same time. When such permission is granted, such organizations and individuals shall abide by this rental policy. i. All parish members, non-parish members, and secular organizations using the facilities are required to complete a user liability agreement [Facility Usage/Indemnity Agreement] are required by the parish insurance company—Catholic Mutual. Most parish and Diocesan related organizations are exempt from signing this agreement because they are covered by Catholic Mutual. For certain events an additional fee may need to be paid for additional insurance coverage, even by parish and Diocesan related organizations. h. USE OF PARISH EQUIPMENT OUTSIDE CHURCH BUILDING: The items requested must be cleared through the church office no less than three days before they are to be taken from the building. When returned, the items should also be checked in through the church office by a stated date. Only folding chairs and tables from the fair stand may be loaned. A donation for their use is requested. 2. POLICY ON FAITH FORMATION [RELIGIOUS EDUCATION] a. In accord with Diocesan policy promulgated January 2004, all students are required to participate in two years of formal preparation [religious education, faith formation] before the celebration of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation. [15 March 2005] i. Excused absences are for illness, family tragedy, or for participation in an organized event [i.e. a school sports activity]. The parish office is to be notified by a Parent/Guardian ahead of class session for the absence to be classified as excused. d. Students need to demonstrate the ability to understand the materials presented or to pass a basic comprehension test before being promoted to the next grade level. [15 March 2005]
b. Parish Related Organizations [parish councils/teams/committees, Guild, Knights of Columbus Council #8232] may use the church building without charge. If organizations have special requests regarding the setting up of equipment, they should notify the facility caretaker at least three days before the event is to take place.
c. USE OF THE CHURCH NAVE FOR:
ii. Non-Parish Members for all events: $100.00
ii. Parish Members for such events as weddings, anniversary celebrations, showers, etc.: $50.00
iii. Non-Parish Members/Secular Organizations for all events: $100.00
iv. Secular Organizations who have arranged the dinners and/or luncheon to be served by Parish Related Organizations: $25.00
ii. Parish Members for such events as weddings, anniversary celebrations, showers, etc.: $25.00
iii. Non-Parish Members/Secular Organizations for all events: $50.00
g. General rules:
ii. Payment of all rental fees is due three days before the said event.
iii. The rental described in “d” entitles you to use all items necessary for the serving of a meal (dishes, silverware, punch bowl, etc.). Renters are to furnish everything that is needed in the way of food, beverages, and decorations.
iv. The rental described in “e” entitles you to use of the hall only and the coffee pots in the kitchen. Renters are to furnish their own dishes, cups, silverware, etc. Renters may not use the stoves, ovens, or dish washer.
v. Anyone using the facilities shall be expected to leave them in the same condition as found this includes the cleaning of tables, chairs, and floors.
vi. Individuals and groups leaving the cleaning up to the parish facility caretaker shall pay a minimum of $25.00.
vii. Damaged, broken, or lost property and/or equipment in connection with an event will be replaced by the renter.
viii. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.
ix. NO SMOKING.
x. No confetti, rice, or anything thrown.
xi. Do not put items on wall without permission of Pastor or facility care taker.
xii. Do not use scotch tape or thumb tacks on pews etc.
i. Special requests for facility use and fees not covered in this policy shall be directed to the Parish Finance Council.
j. Effective 1 January 2005
b. Catechists receive the benefit of paying only one half of the tuition for their children along with a stipend paid to them at the end of each semester. [15 March 2005]
c. Absences shall be defined as excused or unexcused. [15 March 2005]
ii. Unexcused absences are for failure to attend a class session, the office is not notified ahead of time, or the absence is for an event not classified as excused.
iii. Determination of the type of absence will be made by the DRE with all final decisions resting with the pastor.
e. Students missing any grade level will be expected to understand the materials presented and to pass a basic comprehension test before being admitted to their current grade level as in public school. [15 March 2005]
f. Title of the Faith Formation Team: In order to express its mission and purpose in cooperation with the Diocese’s Faith Formation office and encompassing the need for the faith formation of the whole community, the parish Religious Education Team shall be known as the Faith Formation Team. g. Home Schooling: The Catholic Church recognizes that parents are the primary educators of their children in the practice of the faith and the parish Faith Formation Team and program have been formed to assist parents with this important spiritual task. The Catholic Church also recognizes that sometimes the parish timing and location for Faith Formation sessions does not always work for some families. And thus, upon the request of the parents, the parish shall provide parents the option to provide home schooling with the signing of a Parish-Family Home Schooling Agreement.
