WEST FORK CATHOLIC COMMUNITY 22 November 2009 |
![]() |
Our Mission is:
...to worship and praise our God.
...to educate and promote spiritual growth of our people of all ages.
...to serve each other within the Church, helping all members grow in their relationship with God and with one another.
...to live the Gospel through a ministry of hospitality with all our sisters and brothers in the global community.
WEST FORK CATHOLIC COMMUNITY is who we are! On September 12/13 a pew poll was conducted in both parishes regarding a name and logo to identify our two parishes together. After sharing the results of the poll with the St. Michael Parish Council, Immaculate Conception Parish Life Team, and Immaculate Conception Parish Pastoral Council; we have approved the title of WEST FORK CATHOLIC COMMUNITY to identify St. Michael Parish [a liturgical site] and Immaculate Conception Parish [a parish center]. This title is based on the fact that we share a body of water, the WEST FORK of the Little Sioux River, that we are members of the Roman CATHOLIC Church, and that we are a COMMUNITY of faith who gather in Jesus’ name to help fulfill his mission [see above]. The logo features two crosses joined as one and a river. The river represents the West Fork of the Little Sioux River, the Jordan River, and our Baptism. The two crosses represent our two parishes. The joining of the crosses represents our community and unity in Christ. The cross represents the sacrifice of Christ and that we do all things for Christ. This logo and title will be used on all official correspondence and materials for our parishes. The names of our parishes, St. Michael Parish and Immaculate Conception Parish remain unchanged and will be used for individual parish business such as you find each week in this bulletin on pages 4 and 5. You are invited to reflect on the symbolism of our name and logo.
