Making a Difference
From a letter published in the CATHOLIC NEWS, Archdiocese of Winnipeg, October 2000
Your Grace,
last year we requested volunteers from our Archdiocese for the Immaculate Conception Drop-In Centre, a soup kitchen in the inner city which feeds up to 275 men, women and childre, each Sunday, from September to June. The generous response we received has been enormously uplifting. Thirty one parishes and several other Catholic organizations take turns providing nutritious, hearty and well-balanced meals. More groups have come forward this year to participate. As well, many individuals volunteer on a regular basis providing a kind, gentle and safe environment for those who prepare food from your parishes, to those who give donations of one kind or another, and to those who give their presence at the Immaculate Conception Parish Hall. Your care, concern and compassion are deeply appreciated by many people. New volunteers are always encouraged. My phone number is XXX-XXXX.
Sincerely, Rita Hildahl
