John Paul the Great Council 486 at 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940 US -

John Paul the Great Council 486 was originally chartered in February of 1900.  Since our humble beginnings, our long and proud history is evident in how our Council has evolved.  Boasting about 220 members, we are involved in a wide variety of activities in the communities surrounding Middletown.

Let it be known that our membership stands proudly behind our Catholic priests, deacons, and seminarians, as well as our local bishop, and of course, our Holy Father in Rome.  Our Council has always been involved in Middletown’s 2 Catholic Parishes, and a smaller presence in several others in the immediate area.

In the spirit of Father Michael McGivney, our Order’s founder, the Middletown Knights of Columbus have sponsored and taken part in activities designed to fully incorporate the Columbian principles we so proudly espouse.  Some of our programs include an annual blood drive to help replenish depleting supplies at the most crucial time of the year; support for Birthright and other pro-life causes; support for our membership and community through Masses and prayer services for our deceased Brothers and their families.  These are only some of our programs, and more are added every year.

We also support the youth of our community.  Our Council sponsors a Columbian Squires Circle in support of our teenage boys.  Our annual basketball free throw championship and our substance abuse awareness poster contest exemplify our interest in the upbringing of our young boys and girls.  We also offer a scholarship program to our school-children to foster a desire to pursue a Catholic education throughout high school.

Our Order also offers a voluntary life insurance program to protect the families of our Brother Knights in the unexpected event of a tragedy or death.  This is one of the bedrock founding principles of our Order.

So, have we sparked your interest? If you are a practicing Catholic gentleman, at least 18 years old, you are eligible to join the ranks of more than 1.8 million current members worldwide who have made the decision to serve their Church and community. If you would like any more information, just speak to any Knight, and we will be glad to assist you. Or click on the picture above, someone will get back to you soon.  May God continue to bless you and your families.
